This opera is written as a dedication to the Edelweiss Pirates, who with their unforgettable efforts against Hitler and the SS formed the most important youth opposition movement against the Nazi regime during World War II.
The libretto was based on the stories of contemporary witnesses and the protagonists of the Edelweiss Pirate movement in Cologne. Commissioned by the Cologne Chamber Opera.
